Altered Embroidery Hoops – by Jeanine de bruyn
C85 Shabby Rose Collection

Requirements

                              1 sheet of Fresh Vintage C85 005
                              Chipboard Title DC85 005
                              Chipboard keys DC85 010
                              2 Embroidery hoops (different sizes)
Small frame, flowers, gauze, butterfly, lace and ribbon
                              Texture paste and paints
Small piece of fabric for the larger hoop

Directions

Begin by painting your embroidery hoops ( I covered mine in a layer of black gesso first) then once the paint is dry randomly smear texture paste over the outside of the hoops. Once the texture paste is dry begin dry brushing on different paints. I used brown and turquoise paints and then added a little bit of white to lighten everything up again.

Once all the paint is completely dry cut your fabric to fit into the larger of the 2 hoops ( I used a piece of sheer kitchen curtain fabric) Next cut a piece from your Fresh Vintage paper to fit into the smaller hoop.
Glue the 2 hoops together overlapping them slightly, I used a hot glue gun to glue mine together.

Now you can begin embellishing your hoops, I added flowers and some clock die cuts I had in my stash. I made some leaves for my flowers from the Fresh Vintage paper and added gauze behind all my flowers. I painted my chipboard key and added a little texture paste to it, then once it was dry I glued it to the larger hoop and added a butterfly onto it.

Onto the smaller of the hoops I painted my chipboard title piece ‘Everyday Joy’ in brown and then dry brushed a little of the turquoise over it. I added a photo to a small frame I had (It was actually a magnet someone gave me) and then some flowers, a clock die cut and a small clock charm and glued them to the smaller embroidery hoop then added my title piece to the bottom of the hoop. After I was done embellishing my hoops I splattered some white paint over everything to give it a shabbier look.

I added ribbons and lace to the little ‘hook’ at the bottom of my small hoop and then a piece of lace to the ‘hook’ of the larger hoop so I could hang them up.

Happy Crafting Everyone!
